Slow Baking, Real Connection

Flour, Water, Salt,
and a Little Goodness.

We keep every drop small and intentional because we believe in quality over quantity, and people over profit. Here's how our monthly baking circles plan to raise funds and lift up our neighbors.

We're just getting started

So far, Barney's has completed one social drop — a beautiful morning with Rola Door Espresso in Townsend. Our first charity drop hasn't happened yet. When it does, this page will show the real partner, the real total raised, and the real impact it made.

The Model We're Building

How giving will work

Every charity drop will follow these four principles. No invented totals — just a clear plan for turning small batches into neighborhood support.

Pillar 01

50/50 Split

For charity drops, half the proceeds go to a nominated grassroots cause. The other half keeps the sourdough starter alive and the host business supported.

Pillar 02

Hyper-Local Causes

We fund the parks, food programs, and shelters our patrons walk past every day — chosen by the host business and the community, not a head office.

Pillar 03

One Drop at a Time

Small batches mean every donut can carry a purpose. No giant campaigns — just real people, real conversation, and a real contribution to one local need.

Pillar 04

Transparent Reporting

After each charity drop, we'll share how much was raised and where it went. No vague claims — just the actual numbers, photographed and posted.

The Dual-Impact Model

Why we split our proceeds 50/50

When you buy a sourdough donut from Barney's, you aren't just funding a kitchen. You are funding the neighborhood. We operate on two core philanthropic philosophies for our monthly drops:

Empowering Local Third Spaces

Local independent shops—florists, bookstores, independent cafes—are the heartbeat of our towns. By taking no table rent and splitting sales 50/50 with our host venue, we inject vital revenue directly back into local storefronts.

Hyper-Local Charity Nominees

For our charity-based drops, we work with our host businesses to nominate a local grassroots organization. Instead of giant national charities, we fund the immediate parks, food banks, and shelters that our patrons walk past every day.

The True Value of Sourdough

"We take 36 hours to mix, ferment, cold-proof, fry, and hand-glaze our donuts. It is a slow, methodical, quiet craft.

By slowing down the process, we encourage our community to do the same. When people line up outside a flower shop or a bookstore at 8:30 AM for a warm sourdough donut, they start talking to the stranger next to them. They learn about local issues. Sourdough becomes a catalyst for neighborhood unity."
